An Evening of Anointing and Evensong — Sunday, March 29, 7 p.m.
Looking for a quiet, meaningful way to begin Holy Week? Come for a simple service of song, prayer and anointing that makes space for healing, courage and change.
What to Expect
This special evensong service is inspired by the woman who anointed Jesus before the days ahead. In that same spirit, we will offer brief music, a short reflection and the ancient practice of anointing with oil. Receive prayer for what you are facing — a decision, a hope, a burden or a new beginning — and rest in God’s steady grace.
Anointing is a gentle sign that you are seen and loved. It is not required; you are welcome to sit in quiet prayer if you prefer.
When and Where
- Date: Sunday, March 29
- Time: 7 p.m.
- Place: Bethesda United Methodist Church (sanctuary)
Why Anointing?
Throughout Scripture, anointing marks people for purpose and renewal. It reminds us that God meets us in real life — in grief and gratitude, confusion and clarity — and equips us to love our neighbors with courage. As Holy Week begins, this simple act helps us prepare heart, mind and body for the journey to Easter.
Come as You Are
No sign-up is needed. Bring a friend or come solo. Whether you are ready to commit to change or simply need something to be different, step into the quiet and let prayer and song do their work. If you tend to arrive rushed, plan a few extra minutes to settle in; unhurried breath can be its own kind of prayer.
If you have been carrying a question, a name or a next step, bring it. Lay it before God, receive anointing if you wish, and leave with a steadier heart for the week ahead.
