Greening the Sanctuary: Hands-On Decorating Right After Worship on Dec. 7

Want a simple way to step into Advent and meet new people? Stay after worship this Sunday and help turn our sanctuary into a warm, welcoming space for the season.

What’s Happening This Sunday

Date: Sunday, Dec. 7
Time: Right after worship
Location: Sanctuary at BUMC

The Worship Team will guide quick, easy decorating projects, and Lunch Bites will be provided for all volunteers. No RSVP or experience needed — just come as you are.

How You Can Help

  • Hang garland and greens with care throughout the sanctuary.
  • Place wreaths and seasonal accents to mark the start of Advent.
  • Tidy and reset pews and aisles so everything is safe and accessible.
  • Pitch in with light cleanup when we’re finished.

All Ages and Abilities Welcome

This is a great service opportunity for families, newcomers, and longtime members. Tasks are simple, and team leads will be on hand to offer quick instructions and keep things moving.

What to Bring (Optional)

  • Comfortable shoes and a sweater (doors may be open for airflow).
  • Work gloves if you prefer handling evergreens with them.
  • A friendly spirit — we’ll have everything else.

Why It Matters

Greening is more than decorating. It’s how we prepare a shared space where neighbors will sing, pray, and find a quiet moment in a busy season. Your help makes the sanctuary feel like home for everyone who walks in the door.

Stay after worship, grab a bite, and lend a hand. When the last ribbon is tied, you’ll know you helped set the tone for a season of welcome and wonder — and you’ll head out having met a few more friends.
