Neighbors Need You: November Food Drive for Bethesda’s Little Free Food Pantry

What if one bag of groceries could keep a neighbor fed today? Our Little Free Food Pantry is in constant use, and by midday it’s often empty. Your donation this week will go straight to someone who needs it.

How to Help This Week

Donate nonperishable items to the collection bin in the BUMC Narthex throughout November. The pantry sits along Huntington Parkway near the bus stop and gets heavy daily traffic, so items move fast.

What to Donate

Food items

  • Canned soup, beans, tuna
  • Spaghetti sauce and pasta
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Boxes of cereal
  • Breakfast and granola bars
  • Shelf-stable milk
  • Bags of beans and rice

Non-food essentials

  • Band-Aids
  • Socks and gloves
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Soap and shampoo
  • Flashlights
  • Paper towels
  • Individually wrapped rolls of toilet paper

Drop-off Details

  • When: All November (now accepting donations)
  • Where: Donation bin in the BUMC Narthex
  • What to avoid: Please, no perishable foods

Why the Need Is Urgent

With high food prices and reductions in SNAP and school meals, demand is surging. We often stock the pantry in the morning only to find it empty by noon. Your contributions help bridge that gap quickly and directly.

If you’re heading to the store this week, add a few pantry staples to your cart and drop them in the Narthex bin. It’s a simple, local way to make sure a neighbor eats today.
